Auxiliary Security Force members — comprising personnel from various commands onboard NAS Patuxent River — were sprayed with oleoresin capsicum (OC), or pepper spray, July 28 as part of their training to support the installation’s security department.
After being sprayed, participants must open their eyes to feel the full effect, and then fight through the pain while facing off against a series of combatants they must subdue using mechanical advantage control hold (MACH) methods they learned during their training. MACH techniques use a subject’s own body momentum to enable submission.
